Foreign electronic invoicing and the role of Italy

Italy was the first country to have introduced a general obligation of electronic invoicing and therefore finds itself now in a strong position compared to other European countries, which are studying the Italian system with interest.

From 2028 it will become mandatory to notify intra-EU B2b transactions. EU countries must start taking appropriate actions and Italian companies trading with the European Union will have to face the regulations of the countries where their trading partners reside.

What will be the 2024 update on Foreign Electronic Invoicing?

Poland and Romania will be the next to adopt electronic invoicing starting from 2024 and this update concerns Italy to the extent that companies based in these countries or subsidiaries controlled abroad will be impacted by the implementation of sending and receiving invoices.
